Shams: Gobert signs a 3-year, $110 million contract extension with the Timberwolves

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, Rudy Gobert has signed a three-year, $110 million contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In December 2020, Gobert signed a five-year, $205 million deal, leaving two years and $90.49 million remaining on his contract before the extension. Shams reports that Gobert opted not to exercise his player option for the 2025-26 season worth $46.6 million and chose to take a pay cut in the new extension, which now runs through the 2027-28 season. This gives the Timberwolves significant financial flexibility for the 2025-26 season.

Gobert is a four-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year. He was selected 27th overall by the Utah Jazz in 2013 and was traded to the Timberwolves in 2022.

In the 2023-24 regular season, Gobert played 76 games, averaging 14.0 points, 12.9 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.7 steals, and 2.1 blocks, with a shooting percentage of 66.1% and a free-throw percentage of 63.8%.
