Official: Birmingham City Announces the Departure of Head Coach Wayne Rooney

Birmingham City today terminated the contracts of head coach Wayne Rooney and first-team assistant coach Carl Robinson. Despite their maximum efforts, the results did not meet the initial expectations, leading the board to believe that a coaching staff change is in the best interest of the club.

Both the board and the management are in complete agreement on continuing the transformation and taking steps to rebuild Birmingham City into an organization worthy of the support of fans and the community. The board expresses sincere gratitude to Rooney and Carl Robinson for all their efforts.

CEO Gary Cook commented, "We are committed to taking the necessary steps for success at St Andrew's. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned during Rooney's time with us, and we have decided to move in a different direction."

"The search for a successor begins immediately, and we will update fans with further information once available."
Professional Development Coach Steve Spooner will temporarily oversee first-team affairs, with the remaining coaching staff tasked to continue their duties, assisting Spooner. The club will not make further comments at this time.

Rooney became the head coach of Birmingham City in early October last year. As of now, he has led the team in 15 matches, securing only 2 victories, with the remaining record being 4 draws and 9 losses. Birmingham City currently sits in 20th place in the EFL Championship.
