Real Madrid
Real Madrid had an incredible season last year. Despite lacking a primary central forward, Carlo Ancelotti's team managed to win not only La Liga but also triumphed in the UEFA Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup. In the decisive Champions League final, "Los Blancos" defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-0, with goals from Dani Carvajal and Vinícius Júnior in the second half.

This summer, Real Madrid embarked on a tour of the United States, where they lost to Barcelona in El Clásico (1-2) and fell to AC Milan (0-1). However, they concluded their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 victory over Chelsea.

The match against Atalanta will mark the debut for Real's star signing, Kylian Mbappé, who did not participate in the pre-season friendlies. Additionally, young Brazilian talent Endrick might also make his debut.

Out: David Alaba (ACL)
Doubtful: Eduardo Camavinga (discomfort)
Predicted XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Rudiger, Militao, Mendy; Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham; Rodrygo, Mbappe, Vinicius Junior

Atalanta
Atalanta won a European trophy for the first time in their history. Gian Piero Gasperini's team surprisingly crushed Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in the UEFA Europa League final, with Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman scoring a hat-trick. In Serie A, Atalanta managed to finish fourth despite a challenging start to the season, which secured them a return to the Champions League.

This summer, Atalanta suffered a significant blow as their top scorer Gianluca Scamacca will miss most of the season due to a cruciate ligament injury. The club quickly responded by signing Italian international striker Mateo Retegui from Genoa.

In their pre-season friendlies, Atalanta's performances were underwhelming. Gasperini's side suffered heavy defeats to St. Pauli (0-3) and Parma (1-4) and drew 2-2 with AZ Alkmaar.

Out: Gianluca Scamacca (ACL), Giorgio Scalvini (ACL), Rafael Toloi (unspecified), Nicolo Zaniolo (unspecified), Teun Koopmeiners (other), El Bilal Toure (other)
Doubtful: None
Predicted XI: Musso; Djimsiti, Hien, Kolasinac; Zappacosta, Pasalic, Ederson, Ruggeri; Lookman, De Ketelaere; Retegui

Prediction: Real Madrid 3-1 Atalanta BC
Neither Real Madrid nor Atalanta have been setting pitches alight in pre-season, although Euros, Copa America and Olympics disruption is partially to blame, and Gasperini's troops command plenty of respect from their more revered foes. However, the astonishing attacking depth in Ancelotti's ranks is too difficult to ignore, and we can only envisage the Champions League winners coming up trumps in Warsaw, potentially with a debut goal for Mbappe.
